What can I say - bad play?

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Sep 23, 2005 1:24 pm

bodog NL $50 - I am having trouble at the NL50 tables.

Me [Ad] [Jd] LP - $50
Nancy [9c] [8d] BB - $20

No one raises even me. First in I should have raised. My bad.

Flop $1.50 [As] [6c] [5h]

Nancy needs a 7 for inside straight.

Nancy checks, and I bet $1, she calls. her pots odds are 2.5:1 not bad, I guess for a 11:1 shot.

Turn $3.50 [8h]

Now Nancy has a pair and a gut-shot. I bet $3 she calls. Pot odds are 2:1 for 4:1 shot (9 outs).

River $9.50 [7s]

She bets $5. Damn it to hell. Now what? Fold I guess?

I call wanted to see what she called me with.

Lesson learned here.

Bet a little more since they have no idea of the right odds at this limit. Whether to fold on the river is an interesting question. Nancy looks like a straight forward ABC player and can be trusted at this limit. So, I really should have saved the $5. Some players will try to bluff but here I just made a crying call but I KNOW BETTER.

Any one have any comments?

Flop is a K, J and small card. I bet pot $16 and he calls allin with ATo - gut shot and missed. Thanks for the $19.

first in with AJs in lp, i definitely raise. yes, i would believe her play is bad as she didn't have the odds to chase and didn't really extract enough out of you on the river to make it good enough. However, I fold to the river bet.

yeah, i do it occasionally but its normally for a min bet or something really really small. I did it last night and typed "I just have to see because i'm not beating much" and I ended up splitting the pot. $5 bet, thats too much.

You are right here - assuming I was good until the river. That 7 helped hands with any 9 or 4 and hands like A7 or 87 (oesd).

Too many hands beat top pair - read the board take the time and make a good fold.
