QQ with lower cards?

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Sep 23, 2005 10:41 am

I was lucky bodog NL$50.

Question - re-raise here or just call.

LP [Qs] [Qh] raise EP to 2.25 and I make it $12. If he come back over the top I am going to fold.

He calls.

Flop $24.75 [6d] [Qd] [3c] - wow a set

He goes all in for $35.90 and of course I call.

He has [Ad] [As]

Turn $96.50 [Td] - oops 3 [d]

River $96.50 [8c]

I won :D

He played his AA perfectly and got unlucky. You are going to fold your QQ if he comes over the top. Thats why you DONT reraise all in preflop with AA there. You just call and get all in on any flop. Remember that when YOU are the one with AA in this spot.

Back to the question. I dont like youre monster reraise at all. Youre better off just calling and playing the flop.

I might reraise there preflop, but to something like 3x his raise so around $7-8. Why commit so much money to the pot and then fold to an all in?

Your large re-raise really shows me that you're not planning to fold preflop, so I would have gone all-in with the AA. And even if you folded I would have won 24BB, not bad.

Thanks - the monster re-raise was a damn accident - I was distracted  and planned to make it something like $8 - I try to make it 3x his raise.

yeah, Iceman if I just call and say the flop does not have one of the danger cards on it (TJKA) then I can most likely get away from my hand. He bets the flop and then I either...

call - not a good idea at all
Raise - and get called or raised back
fold - maybe folding the best hand but best action.

if the flop is lower than Ten then he bets the flop

call - not a good idea at all
Raise - and get called or raised back then I check call or check fold
fold - to weak tight

I like the no set no bet rule. Here I just got lucky.

I lost with QQ vs AA yesterday - 2 tables and played it wrong. Now I just play one table at a time.
