Odds to call a Push?

Postby Kowskie » Mon Sep 19, 2005 9:08 am

Empire 100 NL: Villain and I both have $100

Villain mini-raises to $2 and Hero re-raise to $8 with KhKd
Villain is the only caller

Flop:($17.50) AdQd3d Villain bets $15 and Hero re-raises to $40
Villain pushes in $77

Hero has $52 into a pot of $148 or 2.8 to 1 (isn't flush draw 1.9 to 1 by river?)

Easy push with 2 kings as outs also?

Well, I really don't think amyone is going to lead out a made flush, since you reraised PF they would wait to C/R. You are about 2-1 for the draw and the pot is paying 2.8-1 i don't really see how this is bad. Then again im usually wrong!! LOL

Figuring the math after your turn raise isn't it:

37 (the amount you have to call) to win 148 ? giving you like 4 to 1?

I left out comments on previous action.

Yes after you make this raise you are getting odds to call here but that is not what I want to point out here. I really dont like your flop play, the only reason you got odds to call all-in is because you made a raise. IMO you need to fold here on the flop. When you raise on the flop you might as well be on a complete bluff, you do have a draw but what can you be ahead of. What you really need to look at here is what odds you are getting on you entire flop play. After your raise preflop, there is $16 in the pot, when your opponant bets $15 you are getting 2:1 on you call so maybe you can call but when you raise you are now pot committing yourself with a hand that is ahead of almost nothing. Your raise is forcing you to make a call for almost 1:1 on your money with a hand that is behind a large percentage of the time. Just call the flop bet and hope you hit the turn, if not its time to fold to the all in.

I say all-in or fold. All-in gives you folding equity as well as letting you see both cards. If you raise to $40 and he only calls.... the diamond hits the turn, he made well fold for the rest of his money.

That being said, I don't like calling at all. You're most likely only gonna see one card, you're not getting the right odds...and if you hit, you're not gonna get paid off.
