Biggest won pot of my career, how badly did I play it?

Bodog $50.

Bodog doesn't appear to make getting hand histories easy at all. Hmm. Finally found it.

7-handed (9-max).

I am UTG+2 with [4s][4c]. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, I call, two folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Stack sizes: BB $72.10, UTG+1 $28.65, me $78.95.

[7d][4h][3d]. Pot is $2.50.

SB checks, BB bets $1.50, UTG raises to $3.00, UTG+1 calls $3.00. I raise to $10.00. BB raises to $17.00, which is a minraise. UTG folds. UTG+1 calls.

At this point, I put UTG+1 on a flush draw pretty clearly. I don't know for sure what BB has, but I'm worried about the made straight. But I can also see a set or a strange 2-pair played that way.

I'm pretty sure the right play here is to respect the straight possibility from the BB, and just call and hope the board pairs. I don't do that, though: I push all-in.

Obviously, given the title of this post, they both call. BB has [6c][5d] for the made straight, and UTG+1 has [Ad][4d] for the obvious flush draw.

I think this is a pretty bad mistake on my part. I should have flat called the minraise, then pushed only if the board paired on the turn. I doubt the BB can get away from his straight even if the board pairs.

Luckily, the turn was the [7h] and I scooped the pot. I won $103 after the rake: pot size was $175.10.

I wanted to make the UTG+1 pay the max for his flush draw. But he was on such a short stack it really didn't matter, he was calling no matter what. If I were heads-up, I definitely would have flat called the minraise on the flop and hoped for the board to pair, trusting that typical Bodog $50 players don't get away from a made straight on a paired board.

Was my play as bad as I think it was?

k3nt,

would you have folded an all in bet on turn ven if the board doesnt pair.?. I just dont do it. Maybe I just CANT do it Not in Bodog $50NL tables. Not anywhere I have played!!! I just dont do it. I lost a 90 stack earlier with set over set. Big deal.

If the answer to the question is yes, then you know you didnt play your best, I just dont think folding that set is EV+, because they will show TT-99-88 so many times you ´ll be thrilled!

I like it the way you did it. just remmber I am one of those fishes in the Aquarium (Bodog, $50 tables)...i´ll be playing there tommorrow (AlexMR there).
