Live vs online

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Aug 26, 2005 11:13 am

I generally do better in Live NL games than online because

I do not give the respect to the online players that they deserve.

Whereas live I am more willing to give up a marginal hand than online.

Comments or observations?

Maybe, just maybe there are more suckouts online but I do not believe that.

One hand that comes to mind is where I had AK suited in the BB and did not raise. (mistake maybe).

The flop was A T x and I bet the pot. CO called and the BTN raised me. Live I would have put him on 2 pair and most likely folded my AK.

Online I paid him off for his two pair.

I have played live just a couple times, but it has been against a feew friends of mine who are Calling Sations and maniacs, so I have seen many crazy stuff in the few hundred hands I have seen live.

I went one day to the casino to watch a friend play and here in Dominican republic the live tables are even softer than online. Start paying respect to players, or re-evaluate the amounts you are willing to play with certain holdings....

I do a lot better live too, I almost feel naked playing poker online these days. You can get so much information by seeing the other person you are playing agaisnt that I feel like I'm missing half the game playing online. It sounds like you know what your problems are playing online so do what you have to do to fix them.

Thanks Alex - live it seems that you can find the weaker players and play agianst them. Then stay away from the strong ones. Online it is hard for me to tell if the player is weak, loose or solid.

I do not play enough with them to know and to track them in PT.

However, you can not fold everytime some throws chips at you.

I had TT and he had TT. The flop was 98x. I bet he raised, I re-raised. We checked the Turn which was a 9 and checked the river which was a blank.

 same hand. I should have fired at the Turn.
