My turn for a whiny rant

Postby Rhound50 » Thu Jan 06, 2005 12:51 am

Today was just rediculus, this is the worst set of beats I've ever taken in such a short time. I went to Oceans 11 in oceanside today and when I got there, one of my favorite action morons is sitting at the 5/5 limit game. So i decided to play, probably not my best idea with my bankroll but what the hell.

So i sit down, first hand I play is 9/8o in the BB. I flop top two with 2 hearts on the flop. Agressive player from utg bets $40 after I check, one call and I call. Turn is a big card no heart, I check again, he bets out $40 again, gets a call. I go all in for $150. Both players call, river is a heart I lose to the nut flush.

2nd hand, my agressive moron friend makes it $50 UTG+1 one player smooth calls, I get 1010 , I think about it and go all in for $200, anyone else I limp but I'm sure at worst I'm a coin flip. Maniac calls, fllop comes 1010A. He claims to have been playing KK but mucks without letting anyone see his cards, i doubt he had it.

3rd hand I'm on the button with AA, my stack is $400. 5 players limp, I make it $50 get 3 callers, pot is $200. Flop is J42 rainbow, It is check to me I lead out $100. Get one caller. Turn is the A of hearts, he checks to me I make it $200, I probably should have just pushed all in for $250. I get a call, river is the 3rd heart, he goes all in I call for my last $50 and lose to another heart flush.

I Tell the dealer to lock up the seat for me, I go outside walk around for a couple minutes and cool off, come back in and buy in for another $200. Couple hands after I sit back down I get As6s at the CO. I limp, great flop for me 5s4s3x. Same agressive player from hand 1 makes it $50, I raise to $100 he calls. Turn is a blank he checks and I check. Turn is the 3s, he checks, I push my last $100 in he beats me in the pot with 53o.

This all happened in a matter of 40 minutes with maybe only 20 or 25 of them with me at the table the other time was me trying to cool off. This is by far the fastest I've ever busted 3 big buys. Kinda feels like getting hit by a bus.

I have a question about hand #2.
You won that hand, right?
But doesn't he have to show when he calls your all-in or is that only in tournaments.
It seems to me that you paid to see his cards, doesn't he have to show them?
.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

The casino doesn't force people to flip over their cards til after the river, I showed my quads and he mucked the flop. There is no way he had KK, first of all he would still be drawing live with running KK. Really i had a right to see his cards but he mucked them before I had a chance to request to see them.

Damn, I had no idea the $5/5 was that live.

Still, that's a lot of cash. I think you really have to be comfortable losing a few buy-ins before you sit at a particular level (and I think you should be making max buy-ins). If it's going to put you off your game, or cripple your bankroll, it doesn't matter how much better you are than the competition.

Nortonesque, usually the 5/5 game is not that live at all, but the one rich kid that was there, is a true maniac and it really drives the action and the thing is he is so loose and crazy that it throws everyone else off their games too. The last time I playes with him this kid went all in like 6 hands in row preflop, finally got called by AK and flopped two pair with 6/9o. Usually I won't play 5/5 since I can't afford to lose 3 full buys, but in this situation I had enough money in both of the first two losing hands that I had enough push to not give people odds to call with just flush draws. Usually I wont play short stacked but this game was so rich I gave it a shot. Just a really rough day.

Mad Genius this is one of the things that I may have slighly misplayed, with a bettor and a caller in front of me I got greedy and was thinking about being able to tripple up. Once I got the turn card I wanted, I kmew i was ahead and against two draws. The bad part was the board made a second dimaond on the turn. After I went all in a got 2 calls I told the dealer to please throw a black card on the board, I knew I was dead when the heart hit.
