What would you have done?

Bodog $0.5BB NL

I´m in the CO and dealt [8h],[9h]. MP player raises to $1.5 , LP calls i call and BB calls.
BB has a full stack. MP has $40 and LP I cant remember....

Flop ($9.75) [7s] [10h] [Jc] GOOD!!! MP player bets $5, LP folds and I raised to $12 (why? dont want to minraise). BB thinks for an hour and folds, MP calls.

Turn(a lot of money already, about $30) [Kh] BB checks, MP checks . Uhmm, I liked this because he could have Ak, or even KK, so I ll stack him right. But I raised on the flop because of the gut shot str8 possibility and because I am soooo paranoid with my recent luck. I bet 15 he miniraises and I pushed. the river was a blank and he flips AQ for the nut str8!!!

Ids there something I could do? Or would you have gone away from this hand? I really think the answer is now but.... damn

As I was writing this I went into a raising battle between this villain and another short stack ($7). He was all in PF and I decided to call. The flop brought and 8 - 10 - 5 and I bet 15 into him....he calls. The turn is a 9 , I checked and he pushes, I called and he shows QJsoooooooted!!! and the river brought another 8 and i suckout!!!!

Nice! it feels sooo damn fine to suckout for once!! Should I make a note of this hand in the suckout winnings section? I have my boubts about this being a suckout....i think he is the sucker!!! :)

Another hand as I am writing. I am delat KK in the BB. A muppet pushes a full stack $48!!! and the button pushes his full stack $60 and I pushed my whole stack!!! $68. They had J5 sooooted and KQ offsuit. the flop brought two spades which was the suit of the first raiser but he didnt improved and I took a 164 pot!

Right now my life would be boring without the fishes!!! yesterday I lost $65, mostly in blinds and missed flops... I have it backl now and I m happy.

Comments on hand 1, please.

Hand 1, I fold preflop usually. But let's assume I called and caught that glorious flop. Depending on the donkey factor at the table, I either bet as you did or push in. If I've been sucked out on a lot for the session, I tend to push my stack in with the nuts. If they want to draw to beat me, they can risk their stacks doing it

A word on sucking out... if you're playing the best possible poker (per the Fundamental Theorem of Poker), you will never suck out. This is because you will always be putting in your money with the best of it.

I don't mind being sucked out on. It's what keeps 'em coming back to give me more money. But I do hate sucking out. Even though it pads my BR for the moment, it means I made the wrong decision and that's -EV in the long run.

Zuccalla,

I really disagree with you on the strenght of that hand. At that point, I only feared AQ, and he only had 4 outs!!! What else? AA-KK-QQ would need a miracle and JJ and TT-99 are way behind. The pot was 14.75 (wit his bet included) and I bet 12!! What else?

I dont see I had so many options. I didnt push because he could have let go on big pairs. I think the hand was strong enough, but I didnt give any cheap card. He paid for his gutshot, which I think was extremely EV-, and hit, I dont see a way of letting that hand go...

I raise that flop harder. If he really has a hand against you, he might push. If he has a type of draw, you want to make sure he pays. on the flop, he's calling $7 to win $26 pot plus implied odds of your stack if he hits. I raise to $15 or so. It may not have made a difference and I'm paying him off if he had AQ on the turn. I bet 2/3-3/4 of the pot on the turn which just might mean i go all in.
