To many of you "veterans" this may seem pretty basic; but learning to check the turn when I have a big pocket pair and my flop bet is called is one of the biggest lessons I've learned at BTP. For example,
PF= Hero is Q[h] Q[d] and raises x4bb from EP. 1 caller who is semi-tight.
Flop (pot = $9.50) K[s] 8[h] 3[d]. That's not too bad of a flop and an excellent steal opportunity. Hero BTP and is called.
Turn = brick. In the past, I probably fire away here. I'd be afraid if I checked that I'd be bluffed. However, now I check. I'd check here with AA too. Bluffs are far less common than legitimate hands here. Turn is check/check
River= brick. Check/Check Villain shows A[h] K[d] to win.
LESSON- If villain does not have a K, I probably steal the pot with my flop bet. Checking the turn and check/calling the river slowdown the hand when I'm behind (any K or any set). I have the upside of a stealing the pot while I've limited the downside.
