Anyone play this differently?

Postby Twelver » Tue Aug 23, 2005 7:05 am

I think I played this fine, just got unlucky. Would like to hear you all's thoughts.

NL $25 on Empire. Villan had only played like 20 hands. Hadn't seen him showdown any yet. He has $22 I have him covered.

I get dealt [9h] [7h] in the CO. 2 folds 1 limper and Villan min raises to .50. He has done this like 4 out of the 12 hands he has been in. I call, SB calls, EP limper calls. 4 to the flop.

Pot = $2.25
Flop = [4h] [6h] [2h]

It's checked to villan who leads out for .50. I raise to $4. Other two fold villan calls. (At this point I put him on a couple of high cards possibly with the [Ah].

Pot = $10.25
Turn = [Qc]

Villan checks, I bet $7, he calls.

Pot = $24.25
River = [Ah]

Villan almost instantly pushes all-in for $10.50. I thought long and hard but went with my read and folded.

I type in the chat "keep chasing" and he responded with "I had you on the flop". Does anyone think I was already beat? Does anyone play it any differently?

Party skins are going to be a rock garden for the next few days while people work off Empire 100% bonuses.

What does PT say about him after you've played more hands with him? He probably did have you on the flop if he's not a LAG, CS, or fish. Even if he didn't, too many cards that he's probably holding beat you on the river. I'd probably fold. Actually, I'd probably push in on the Turn and lose my stack if he really did have me on the flop...

How can the pot be $13.25 on the river if you each put $7 in on the turn?

oops. I edited for the typo. PT doesn't have anything else on this guy. He played a total of 30 hands and never showed down 1.

Yes his all in is not showing any strength, but I think I am beat to many times to make this +EV. I do see your point of pushing in on the Turn, which gives me some fold equity. But, I can't justify the call on the river....even if I am getting 3.4:1

There's no way you can call that. You only beat the 3,5,6 of hearts... He has to be very fishy to do that without a heart in his hand, you're just giving away your money.
