Two Hands, Two Calls

Postby majakovskij » Sun Aug 21, 2005 6:50 am

Hand number 1. MP3 is semi-loose-passive.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (10 handed)

MP2 ($100.25)
MP3 ($175.90)
CO ($97.50)
Button ($111.10)
Hero ($92)
BB ($125.45)
UTG ($102.20)
UTG+1 ($93.45)
UTG+2 ($100)
MP1 ($71.67)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [Kd], [Ac]. Hero posts a blind of $0.50.
4 folds, MP3 calls $1, 1 fold, Button calls $1, Hero raises to $4, 1 fold, MP3 calls $3, Button folds.

Flop: ($10) [6h], [7c], [3s] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP3 checks.

Ragged flop. I went for a check-raise.

Turn: ($10) [Kc] (3 players)
Hero bets $6, MP3 calls $6.

I hit my king. I expected him to fold.

River: ($22) [8c] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $15, Hero calls $15.

Why did he call on the turn? Did he pick up a flush draw? If so, he just hit. I'm check-calling here.

Final Pot: $52

Results later. What do you think MP3 had? And how would you have played it?

Hand number two. BB is tight-aggressive.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (9 handed)

SB ($33.68)
BB ($137.35)
UTG ($89.75)
UTG+1 ($107.70)
MP1 ($60.75)
MP2 ($102.55)
MP3 ($116.85)
Hero ($92.25)
Button ($97.50)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [9d], [9h]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
5 folds, Hero raises to $3, 2 folds, BB calls $2.

Flop: ($6.50) [5s], [8c], [Jh] (2 players)
BB bets $3, Hero calls $3.

Weak bet. I opted to just call. I might pick up something on the turn.

Turn: ($12.50) [Tc] (2 players)
BB bets $3, Hero raises to $9, BB calls $6.

Well, well, an OESD. And another weak bet by BB.

River: ($30.50) [9s] (2 players)
BB bets $10, Hero calls $10.

I thought long and good about folding this hand. But I couldn't put BB on a straight. His play was too weird.

Final Pot: $50.50

Results later.

Hand #1) No way I check raise that flop with unimproved AK
Hand #2) Raise his flop bet or get out. When I say raise...I mean RAISE

Hand 1 66?? Ugh. Did you have some super LAG image against this guy?

Hand 2 is even worse. He doesn't start raising until cards that beat him appear?? He's pretty much ignoring the board and just trying to slow play what he thinks is an unbeatable hand. Mark him and find him often
