1/2nl - TPTK against a maniac. what's your play?

Postby Stelvask » Tue Aug 16, 2005 4:55 pm

button has a VP$IP of 50%, PFR of 25%, and an AF of 6.

I though about reraising preflop, but figured i didn't have enough folding equity, and i didn't like my position.

Who calls this all in? who leads out on the flop? who mucks. if so, at what point?

Also, was my check raise bad? it felt like the right play to me.

If he's a maniac I call. He may very well have middle pair, a draw or a K with a weaker kicker. Most likely he's got something like KT or A7.

How many times have you seen him raising all in?

With such numbers there is a very good chance you have him, but in my case, if I call and he beats me, that can cause a major tiltness. :?

I think you have to fold that one and wait for a better opportunity to get him. I dont like to be all in with TPTK. What s his W$SD? is a question to answer if you are considering a call.

I would fold there and wait for a set to try that move. :)

TPTK kicker is pretty good against a maniac... If he shows you a better hand or out draws you that is tough luck.

Now if he is loose and aggressive, and goes pretty ape with one pair hands but ballistic with hands like AA or set here, more arguments can be made for folding. I just see very few LAGs able to play this way effectively and most of them TPTK is a good enough hand to stack off.

I'd call it..the only real legit think you're losing to is AA. I really don't think he would make that bet and reraise with a set. Good chance he would slow play the two pair as well.

Ice, you say you're reraising big, and i had the the cursor moved up to a reraise to $36 and then thought about it a little bit and decided that A: i didn't think i could get him enough hands, and B: i didn't like the idea of playing this big of a pot with just AK out of position against a wild guy.

Anyways, i'm just relieved to see that no one sees this as an easy fold or anything.

I always wind up second guessing myself when i call an all in with TPTK, but i didn't think he had AA (had i reraised PF, i could have found that out though), and KK seemed highly unlikely. I called hoping he had KQ, but half exepcted to see AK. He had AK and we split.
