1st Three Hands At Party NL25

Postby LottaFagina » Mon Aug 15, 2005 8:14 am

Just sat down in the BB, so no reads on players.

I was starting to worry about Quad 4s on the Turn. I played it passively since they were betting for me. I felt like I had to push in on the turn once we were all committed and still got both guys to call my entire stack. Nice to triple up on your first hand. :)

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (10 handed)

MP3 ($104.17)
CO ($20.44)
Button ($45.30)
SB ($18.85)
Hero ($25)
UTG ($12.50)
UTG+1 ($67.90)
UTG+2 ($20.80)
MP1 ($26.80)
MP2 ($22.40)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [9c], [9d]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
5 folds, MP3 calls $0.25, 1 fold, Button calls $0.25, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($1) [9h], [4s], [4h] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.25, MP3 raises to $1, Button raises to $2, SB folds, Hero calls $1.75, MP3 raises to $5, Button calls $3, Hero calls $3.

Turn: ($16) [2c] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $10, Button calls $10, Hero calls $19.75 (All-In), MP3 calls $9.75, Button calls $9.75.

River: ($75.25) [5c] (3 players, 1 all-in)
MP3 bets $10, Button calls $10.

Final Pot: $95.25

Results in white below:
Hero has 9c 9d (full house, nines full of fours).
MP3 has As 4d (three of a kind, fours).
Button has 4c Qs (three of a kind, fours).
Outcome: Hero wins $75.25. MP3 wins $20.

Hit 9-9 two hands later with these results. I feel like I left some money on the table, but I feared the QK boat over me. I puss'd out by checking the River, but I didn't want to make a value bet only to have him check raise me.

No way you can check behind on Hand 2. You have to ask yourself would BB check on the river there with something that beats you? No way. He would fear that you would check behind and he would get nothing else (unless he has a really good read on you). Bet that river and hope he is dumb enough to call with something mediocre.

I'm still mulling this over. His betting out of $1 on the flop, followed by the check/call of my $4 on the turn might indicate a KQ, setting up the check/raise on the end.

Is a 1/2 pot bet on the end proper? $5 or $6 would be just under half his stack ($13 left at that point).

Oh well, thanks for your comments.
