The least amount I ever lost with AA

Postby droqqa » Sat Aug 13, 2005 5:04 pm

Was trying to get trappy, but much like that hand I posted last week, the flop was awful.

Comments?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

Hero ($2018.50)
MP3 ($1895.50)
CO ($1924)
Button ($1209)
SB ($458.50)
BB ($976)
UTG ($1000)
UTG+1 ($3309)
UTG+2 ($2498.50)
MP1 ($2240)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [Ad], [Ac]. SB posts a blind of $10.
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $80, 2 folds, Hero calls $80, 4 folds, BB calls $60.

Flop: ($250) [Qh], [Tc], [Jc] (3 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 bets $225, Hero folds, BB folds.

Final Pot: $475

Results in white below:
No showdown. UTG+1 wins $475.

WOW. I think that is a good move. There are better spots to lose 2K. I dont think I could have let go without al least raising.

I am going to SD 24.7% . Dont know what is wrong with me.

Do you have any kind of reads of this player ? Since you CAN let go a hand like this, what s your WtSD%??

Really awful flop, but with an overpair, a gutshot straight draw and a backdoor flush draw, I'd love to see a raise here. That could've been a really ballsy continuation bet with an inferior hand.

Great laydown there imo!

I think pursuing that board is completely insane. You're drawing dead to AK. You're WAY behind to QQ, JJ and TT, and you're not all that far ahead of KK (which now has only 6 outs, although he doesn't know it).

Also, there are 12 AK hands out there, 6 KK hands, 3 each of QQ, JJ and TT. I suppose he could have AQ as well, but I really don't see taking the risk of drawing for a split pot with only a gutshot.

3 to a plausible straight or 3 to a flush without the ace in your hand is imo just an immediate laydown to any kind of serious betting. You can't flat call here, and in order to raise, it's going to have to be at least something like $750 to go...

By the way, if I had QQ there (in your position), I'd flat call (?). With AK in your position, it's $1,000 to go. Agreed?

I am going to SD 24.7% . Dont know what is wrong with me.

Unless you are very tight pre-flop this would usually indicate either that you are calling down too much or that you aren't betting enough to force other players off hands (this might mean you are good at extracting maximum payoffs of course :P ) what's your W$SD% and PTBB/100?
