Ax hits 2 pair.....

Postby ua1176 » Sat Aug 13, 2005 2:23 pm

$20 NL @ Prima

UTG+1 limps...MP2 minraises....i call from the BB with [Ac] [6c]. UTG has $29, MP2 has $14, i have $20. normally i'd drop this hand...but the minraiser had been minraising all night and then folding on the flop to anyone who showed real strength.

flop: [6h] [8c] [As]
pot size: $1.30

i check...planning to check-raise.
EP limper checks
MP2 bets $2

i think he's scared and looking to take it down there....my read is a pocket pair between QQ-99 that's afraid of the Ace...so i raise to $6. EP limper then re-raises to $18, and MP2 calls for the rest of his stack.

is this an easy fold, an easy call, or something else? comments + thoughts appreciated....thanks,

jon

wow, that's tough. Any reads on the UTG player? This really seems like a set of 8's and some sort of Ace from MP2. UTG check reraised a check raiser. It takes a special type of maniace to do that without a set on that board, maybe top 2 pair. Unless they are known muppets, I think I reluctantly fold here.

UTG limper is solid....not terribly aggressive, but knows enough to bet when he's got something.

MP2 minraiser is a little fishy. i've seen him get stuck on pocket pairs even when overcards hit the flop, and i've seen him make a couple big overbets (like 3x-4x the pot size) on the turn or river when he's hit his draw.
