$5/$10 NL....My opponent is the player who I have the most hands against in my database. He says he plays for a living. I dont think hes living in luxery.

Villian limps, I raise to $40 with AK. He calls and were heads up.

Pot is $95. The flop comes J87. He checks and I check. I bet this 90% of the time. Im not sure why I didnt.

Pot still $95. The turn is an ace. He checks and I check behind. Dont ask me why. I just felt that a check raise was coming and would rather just call his river bet.

Pot still $95. River is a 4. He bets $50, I call and he shows AA.

I felt like Houdini after this hand.

I bet the flop even when I miss for 2 reasons

1) If you only bet when you hit the flop, you'll never get paid off when you hit
2) A large portion of the time, they dont have anything either and will fold.

Of course I only play the micro limits so I get called no matter what I do. I am really beginning to think that the micro limits hurt your play after awhile though. With people calling no matter what and 6 or 7 going to the flop it gets to the point whenre you almost have to have the nuts to win.

Tep,

I agree that micro limits do hurt your play. Or at least, you can't really play any advanced level of poker when you are up against calling stations all around.

That being said, I'm not sure its wise to move up until the BR justifies. tough one.

In Warcraft and Starcraft, "haxor" or "hacker" usually means "maphacker," which is a cheat you can download and enable that lets you see exactly what the other player is doing. (If you're not cheating, your opponent's actions are invisible to you unless you are nearby or use certain scouting techniques.) In essence, if you're hacking, you can see their cards. So "haxor" almost precisely describes what Ice looks like here.

I hate to highjack the computer lingo post, but what do you normally bet in NL with an unimproved AK at the high levels after the flop. I am assuming that you normally would bet the pot there. No pun intended.
