This one made me smile

Postby iceman5 » Wed Aug 03, 2005 12:42 pm

2 nights ago I was playing a short stack moron. I took a couple pots from him but then this hand happened.

He min raises to $20 ( he has about $240). I reraise to $80 with AK. He calls.

Pot is $175. Flop J63. He bets $10 and I push all in. He calls with J9s which holds up.

He busts out a few hands later after calling a raise with Axs. Flop was JJx and he had a flush draw. Raiser checked..he bet, raiser called.

Turn was a K and gave him the flush. They got all in and I wouldve bet my life the other guy had KK and he did. I said something about his busting being inevtable and someone else chimed in as he left. People always say dont upset the fish. I agree most of the time, but these short stack guys always come back anyway and I dont mind tilting them. Hes a short stack, he'll be back tomorrow playing like crap again.

So last night Im playing and he comes in as an observer and out of the blue says "iceman5.... Youre an idiot" (insert my real screen name for iceman5). We get into it a bit and I tell him to sit his short ass down.

He does.

I limp UTG with KK. He limps. Both blinds are in.
Pot is $40. Flop comes J53. BB bets $40. I raise to $100. Shorty pushes in for $255. BB folds and I call. Shorty has J5 and the turn is another 3.

"I say J5? LOL"... "He says I had 2 pair you asshole."...I say "J5? LOL"

Good times :)

That guy must be good at flopping two pair to play J5...

(a reference from a NL homegame last week with coworkers where one of them said as he folded "Don's (me) good at flopping two pair"... what made it even more funny was I'm good at taking down small pots with total air)

It really is a great feeling to draw out on someone, its kind of messed up to say but it really is the truth. I get so few chances to put a lot of money in with an underdog that is seems like I am always getting sucked out on, and dont ever seem to get the good end of it, so the rare chance to come from behind is really nice, especially after someone like this is talking trash.

RH, someone said, "if you are always getting bad beats, feel good about it. It means you're doing the right thing at the right time."

I think there's some wisdom here.

Someone also wrote (May Cardplayer issue) that if you're willing to pay someone off when they're drawing thin, then you deserve to lose. The concept "bad beat" needs to be qualified for times when you have your money in with the best of it and they make a mistake, not when they make a mistake and then get paid off with the implied odds.
