Dealt [9h] in the SB. 1 limper to the button who raises to $10. I call with my med pocket pair and the limper folds. Opponent has $262...I have him covered. No particular read on this guy. Never played with him before.

FLOP $24

I bet $16. Opponent raises to $64.

Wow. That's a big a raise. I decide to call and see what the turn brings. I don't beleive he has a made flush...tha'ts the kind of raise a player makes with K.

TURN $152
[4c][9c][3d]

A complete rag hits. I think awhile and decide to bet. I don't want him checking behind with a flush draw.

I bet $98. Opponent moves all-in for $189. I don't hesitate to call. I still think he has K.

He shows [Kh] drawing dead.


I thought I played this perfectly. Anyone disagree or have any other thoughts??

in answer to your question, the only thing i may have done different was the turn bet. i think you need to bet more to really put K to the test.

Instead, i'm generaly going to push this flop. what made flush would he raise that hard with that he raised PF? no way does he have [Jc] here. if he's got KK, then rough luck. black aces is possible too, and has a bunch of outs. but personally, i'd be happy getting all my chips in on this flop, especially out of position. he *should* fold red AK here, but more often than not, i think it's the better play.

Aside from that, did i mention he's a donkey?

The only reason I called his flop raise was because I wanted to see if the flush hit, stevlask. My argument is... if you are 90% sure he has the ace of clubs in his hand...why not see what the turn is and then put him to a decison, when the odds are much better in your favor??

Only probalme with a probe bet there is that he will flat call with the . Its ok I guess, but I think Kenny played it perfectly.

Kenny, explain your plan of action if that 4th club hits on the turn. Do you check/call from there?

I'm not sure I fully grasp the let him see the turn for cheap. Don't you want him paying for his draw?

Yeah my plan of action would be to check/fold or check/call depending on the size of the bet.

My thinking was this: i'm not a huge favorite on the flop. I'm a favorite...but only 70% to 30%.
I can see the next card for cheap...since I'm assuming he has the ace or queen of clubs (any sane opponent would) I just wanna see the turn.

Now when the complete rag hit the turn...my odds just went from 70-30 to 80-20...a much bigger favorite. So i think this kind of play lowers varience a ton.

I dunno if I explained it very well... I would love to hear unknown player's take on all of this.
