This guy has been here for 20 hands, this is like his 3rd flop he's seen. Could he really have a 2?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

Hero ($100)
UTG+1 ($110.25)
MP1 ($134.90)
MP2 ($98.85)
MP3 ($96)
CO ($100)
Button ($49.50)
SB ($102.40)
BB ($162.93)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [9h], [9c]. CO posts a blind of $1. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
Hero calls $1, 3 folds, MP3 calls $1, CO (poster) checks, Button calls $1, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: ($5.50) [2d], [2h], [7d] (5 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button raises to $10, BB folds, Hero calls $5.

Turn: ($25.50) [3c] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

River: ($25.50) [4s] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $15, Hero calls $15.

Final Pot: $55.50

Results in white below:
Hero has 9h 9c (two pair, nines and twos).
Button has 6s 2s (three of a kind, twos).
Outcome: Button wins $55.50.

I checked the river because I figured if he had a 7, he might bet again and if he somehow really had the 2, he would raise and I wouldn't want that. I know, I know, min raise = monster but I decided to see what he would do on the turn and he checked!

I loved/hated your call on the flop. When I see your call, I thought it to be a rather great one or your walking into a monster. Unfortunatly 62s is a monster from the button. His turn play completely justifies calling that river. Maybe it was a $25 insight into his madness? Hope you busted his ass.

Oh Brian. <sigh>

I guess maybe he got cold feet about his kicker on the turn but regained his courage after your second check on the river?

Wouldn't you have LOVED that river to come a 9?

I'm trying to stop calling raises with small overpairs to the flop. I'm undergoing rehab but the doctors say it may be awhile before I regain the use of my forehead (badly damaged by repeatedly bashing it into sets and two pairs).

I didn't get a chance to bust him as he left after that hand.

I would have played it the same way.
