QQ UTG

Postby iceman5 » Sat Jul 30, 2005 12:32 pm

$5/$10 NL

No reads as Ive only been playing about a round or so

I ($950) limp UTG with QQ.. MP ($800) min raises to $20. The button ($1000) reraises to $50. I call as does MP.

The pot is $165. The flop comes [Qh][8c][3c]. I check, MP bets $35, Button raises to $130. I reraise to $300. MP folds and button calls.

Any problems here? I thought about flat calling the raise but if MP hit a flush I wouldve puked. As it is, its $265 to him with a $630 pot, so some guys might even chase the flush draw with this raise, but I figured if MP called, the button might push in with AA / KK. Also, since he min raised preflop, I really didnt think he had a flush draw although he could have Ax of clubs.

Thoughts?

I'm sorry but I don't like your play here again. I LOVE and o i LOVE so much a lead out on this flop, can you ask for a better spot? First off, you leading out for 150 (Knowing that BB has a big hand most likely and MP could be on anything), serves to trap MP in the middle of a pot between you and Button with you holding the mortal nuts. You bet 150, MP will call and maybe even raise with KQ and AQ, then Button who most likly we can put on AA or KK will surely have to make a re-raise that will have him end up playing for his stack and you move all-in on the flop. You trap daed money in MP and maybe even stack him and get to stack the Button, this play works perfect here because we pretty damn sure Button is on a big hand.

The way you play it with your style, if I were button I might be able to drop my AA KK on that flop to you. Your check-raising after a bet and a raise out of position, that play screams set or two pair "Im not afraid of AA, KK", I think I'ld lay down my AA or KK to you there if thats what button has.

I'm inclined to agree. If you lead $150 here you might get a call or raise from MP, and you'll most certainly get a raise from the button. Even if he only raises $450 he'll have half his stack in the pot and a hard time folding AA/KK there after you push, and your push would (most likely) force out MP even if he has a flsuhdraw and called your initial bet.

Well, I do like your play. The check raise was good because is almost sure that the PFraiser will fire the pot there. Another thing I could do if I only had called the PF raises as you did, is lead out with a small bet (probe) so he can riase me and then I reraise big and the pot gets bigger while you are holding the nuts.

I like it anyway. As You said, youcant afford to give them free cards because of the flush draw. Besides, the button can be on AA-KK and you dont want him to hit his two outer. In case he was playing position trying to outplay you there is no much you can do, since he is folding there for sure, which I think was the case siince you posted...

I agree that I shouldve led out for at least $100 for all the reasons listed.

I check raised to $300, MP folded and the button called.

The turn was a brick and I bet $400. The button intentionally disconnected. Too bad for the rat bastard that it was one of Partys new no disconnect protection tables and his hand was folded. I have the feeling he had [Ac][Kc]
