What to do against the maniac....

Postby stealthtt385 » Fri Jul 29, 2005 5:02 pm

The maniac has stats 55/18/3.38. I hate these overbets because most the time they are bluffs, but if you call and are wrong you can kiss your stack goodbye. So, what would you do?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

CO ($27)
Button ($92.65)
SB ($51.35)
BB ($52.30)
UTG ($27.40)
UTG+1 ($37.10)
UTG+2 ($49.50)
MP1 ($48.75)
MP2 ($72.70)
Hero ($49.25)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with [Kd], [Ks]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 2 folds, MP2 calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2, 2 folds, SB (poster) calls $1.75, 1 fold, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls $1.50.

Flop: ($7) [Qh], [6d], [8d] (3 players)
SB checks, MP2 bets $3, Hero raises to $8, SB folds, MP2 calls $5.

Turn: ($23) [9c] (2 players)
MP2 calls $62.70 (All-In)

if he's that loose and aggressive, and assuming that his Win at Showdown % is not unusually high, i call. he could 2 pair, a set, or a straight...but i think AQ or KQ is significantly more likely. or nothing at all.

maybe you get stacked...but against someone that loose and aggressive you are more often ahead than not. thats what you have a bankroll for.

edit: since you're posting this....i guess there's a good chance that you called and that he had Q9 or 10-7 or something.
