Open raising T9s

Postby briachek » Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:27 pm

I haven't been raising much and been at the table a while so if anyone is paying attention, i'm showing good hands. $50NL on party. I have $60.

Im in MP1 and raise to $2 after one limper with T9s. Button (has me covered) calls and all others fold. He is semi tight but not too aggressive and not really that good.

Flop with 782 with 1 of my suit but 2 of another.

I bet $5 and he calls.

Turn is T completing the flush draw.

I bet $8 and he calls. hmmmmm

River is offsuit 8

I bet $8 and he thinks and calls. What do you think of my play? Check/fold turn. Check river?

I like it except for the bet on the river. It's one of those where if you get called you have to think you're losing....

but if you check..you might get him to bluff?? Though admittely...so many draws hit I'm not really sure what he'd be bluffing with.

my problem with the river is that if I check, what kind of bet can I really call on the river?

I think I bet the turn a bit harder. I cant put him on a hand though. Did he have JJ? Or a smaller pair like 66? Maybe when you slowed down , he put you on AK?

I think I wouldve bet the turn harder and then checked the river and called depending on how much he bet.

you might be right briachek. maybe the river should just be a check/fold? They guy has shown amazing strength by calling those bets with that coordinated board.

He had AK off with the A of the flush draw suit. He called me down with Ace high and busted draw.

The party poker factor never ceases to amaze me.

The results were good, but I think most of the time you will be shown a non nut flush or raised on the river. After the guy called your turn bet, I think you have to slow down. Most of the time you will be beat.

Fortunately this time the guy was a muppet.
