JJ on coordinated flop

Postby briachek » Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:15 pm

Villain is very tight and solid. He has $28 and I have him covered. $50 NL on party.

He raises to $2 in Mp. I call in sb with JJ. Pot is heads up.

Flop is [ 9c, Th, 8h ]

I have the Jh. I lead into for $4. He raises to $10. Your action?

Fold??

You're not getting any action even if you call and hit the straight.

The only other move is all-in...he might fold a really good hand. oh wait..it's party poker...lol...

i don't like flat calling the raise. i like folding or moving in.

If he's on QQ you have 6 outs twice.
If he's on KK or AA you have 10 outs twice.
Plus the possible backdoor flush, equals about one out twice (may or may not be live).
If he's on AK you're ahead. Not likely but possible.
Are TT, 99, 88 possible? Maybe.

Average of say 8 to 10 outs twice, depending on your thoughts of his chances of having AK vs TT or 99 = 32% to 40% or so to win. A bunch of dead money in the pot relative to his stack size. So ... decide if you have any folding equity and then push or fold.

In reality, I would probably just call. But I agree it's a bad move.

yeah, i couldn't decide between raising and folding. I decided to call which I knew was stupid. The turn was a K and I check/folded to his all in. I knew I made the wrong decision because I didn't know what the right one was.
