Try to induce a bluff?

Postby briachek » Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:35 pm

$50 NL on party. Villain has full stack and I have him covered. he is new to table so no real read.

He limps UTG+1 and I check in BB with Q4o.

Flop is [ Th, Qs, 4c ]

I bet $1 and he calls.

Turn is 2d

I check. He bets $2 and I raise to $6 which he calls.

River is Q

Do you check hoping he has a queen so you can check raise him or do you value bet?

Value bet. If he has a Q, he might even raise.

Value bet. You check raised him on the turn and he called, there's no draw out, he should have a hand. So he will either check behind or valuebet a Q if you check. You accomplish nothing by checking, many of the hands that he will call you with will check behind, if he has a Q you're probably stacking him anyway.

There's a straight draw out there...... but I don't think it's good enough to check and induce.

I say screw value betting though and put out an overbet. If he has a queen, then he will call. If he doesn't...well he probably wouldn't call a value bet anyway.

well I screwed up and tried to induce him to bet. He checked behind with JJ. I may or may not have been able to get anything out of him.

On party at $50 level and lower, I push-in with a full house. It seems that Party players: 1) love to wait and do the bulk of their betting at the river, and 2) often assume an all-in on the river is a bluff.
