Ok no real read on the villian but the way I was looking at the hand it looked to me like he thougth I was trying to by this pot and I don't want to be one of those idiots who can't lay down TPTK but how do you not become one of them. I'm really not happy at all with this hand and the way I played it.
Should I have just limped w/AJ?
Should I have checked the turn?

I definetely DON'T raise AJ out of the BB since it has so many disadvantages. Your opponent will put you on an AK-AT type of hand meaning you won't get action if you flop an A and it happens to be good, and you're out of position with an easily dominated hand. Even if AJ is pretty strong HU at a SH table, your positional disadvantage makes up for that.

No matter what hand I raise with I will bet the flop in a HU situation unless slowplaying or planning a CR bluff against an aggressive opponent, so your bet on the flop is fine by me. When you bet out again with TPTK on the turn and get re-raised.. only a set or AA-QQ beat you, a two-pair is unlikely, still, that's a mighty unproportional bet so withoit read on the opponent as very LAG you're probably better off looking for another spot.

I assume he had QQ-AA and you sucked out on him.

Yes, there are much better spots to get my money in, my instinct told me he thought I was trying to buy it, hence the huge bet by him. I know I should have layed this down after the re-raise. Would that just be about standard everytime with that kind of bet? I know its poker so nothings for certain but, I don't know. I imagine the better NL players on here would have probably layed AA and KK here but maybe not.

I think pre-flop and flop are fine 6-handed.

You've ploughed far too much money into the pot on the turn though. I check call the turn, and then *maybe* value bet the river. Once you bet and are raised it's a really clear fold (assuming utg isn't an idiot).
