The HH of Shame

Postby Stoneburg » Mon Jul 18, 2005 7:18 pm

I couldn't find the Thread where to post horribly misplayed hands for public humiliation in order to prevent oneself from doing it again, so I decided to open a new one. This is my Misplayed Hand Of The Day...

iain1983 : Calls for 0.20
ahammarn : Calls for 0.20
larre : Calls for 0.20
BetterDays : Calls for 0.20
Erhnam : Folds
stylis : Calls for 0.20
Doust : Calls for 0.10
Stoneburg : Checks [Ah] [7h]

Flop $1.40 [Td] [7c] [Ad]
------------------
Doust : Checks
Stoneburg : Bets 1.20
iain1983 : Folds
ahammarn : Folds
larre : Folds
BetterDays : Calls for 1.20
stylis : Folds
Doust : Folds

Turn $3.80 [6h]
------------------
Stoneburg : Bets 3.00
BetterDays : Calls for 3.00

Here my the voice in my head goes: "Ooops! He hit his straight..."

River $9.80 [Qs]
------------------
Stoneburg : Checks
BetterDays : Bets 5.00
Stoneburg : Calls for 5.00

Here I spend 15 seconds trying to think of a hand that I beat, come up empty... and still call.

Nothing like public humiliation to reniforce the "don't play like an idiot" message on one's self. I only wish my dumb moves were this cheap

My humiliation is often accompanied by a buy-in reduction in my BR.

Well you beat AJ, or a busted flush draw that is trying to buy the pot on the river. But that is all I can come up with. You are getting 3-1 on the call. I might have made the call too. But then again I am a fish.

I don't see a problem with your play. You made about pot sized bets with a good two pair on theflop and turn. Since you checked the river you don't know if he is betting because you showed weakness or because he actually hit his draw. I think paying off the river bet is reasonable.

You cant put him on a straight just because the 6 hit and he called your bet. What if turn was a diamond? Would you think he had a flush then? Dont see monsters under the bet.

He would probably play a flush draw the same way and you would have felt like the best player in the world (I know I would).

Dont let the results of a hand make you feel that you misplayed the hand.
