I slow played it, I checked he bet, i checked again when a 8 hit, and again on the river,

my thoughts on checking the river was that he wouldn't call a bet anyway.

First off I dont like your play of just calling preflop. You limp with the intent to limp raise, why just call. Build yourself and pot and make sure you are heads up. After the flop this is one of the few safe times to slow play, I am not sure if he bet the turn or river but if he bets the turn that is when you want to check raise, if he checks the turn you have to bet the river if he checked the turn he is going to check the river. He has a semi strong hand since he raised preflop and by checking the river you allow him to get to showdown for free which he is going to do more often then not.

Yeah I played this hand terribly, I won't argue that. I guess I didn't re-raise only becuase it was heads up and I thought to myself "he can never put me on AA here"

But it wasn't the brightest move I have made lately. So yeah....I have no excuse. Of course that is whyI play at the limits I play at I guess.

After he checks the turn, on the river you HAVE to bet. Bet something you think he will call. 1/3 the pot or so, maybe more, depending on what kind of player he is.
