I have been at the table for a bit, seems pretty passive and I have been raising a few pots. Villian I don't have a read on but ends up being like a 22/18. I had 3 bet him in the previous orbit when he opened the CO I had JJ. He folded. Then we play this hand maybe an orbit or so later.

Thoughts??

Wow. It's really tough. In HU matches, the sentiment I get from top players is that checking back a flop like that gets credit for an A, and he's definitely not giving you credit (or he doesn't care).

I probably call once, and make a note. You've shown some passiveness postflop in 3b pots, and your line looks really weak...so he may be trying to blow you off of it. Timing tells? If he snap shoved the river, or did it within a second or two, then I'm calling just as fast...but if he thought about it, I'd be more worried.

Poker is silly.

Hand 1) I think you should bet a bit more preflop and definitely more on the flop. Say you had KK there, you'd bet 3/4 pot since there's an FD right?

Hand 2). I prefer just betting the flop but I can see that you probably checked it fearing a flop raise. Okay, but I'm definitely leading the turn and leading it near pot. No A checks there twice and by leading the turn you can at least rep that you were trying to trap him on the flop with an A (not a good play on a FD board, but people think that way).
