NL $50: calling an all-in with lots of outs

Postby majakovskij » Sat Jul 02, 2005 11:29 am

Sorry to bother you guys again. I just finished playing this hand. The dude was a maniac fish (lots of preflop all-ins and raises with hands like TJ and 86s). I put him on a low-end straight or a pure bluff. Truth is, I just wanted to bust him and maybe get rid of him. So was this play totally out of line?

Bet $4 instead of $2 on the flop...more people will respect that bet and fold.

As for the turn....you bet weak again. At least you had teh nut flush draw but I wouldn't be calling that bet. to call $15 into a $30 with a flush draw with one card to come... isn't near what it needs to be.

I think you have to wait for a better opportunity to get this maniac. You only had 9 outs for the nut with only the river to come. That gives you about 17% of chances of hitting. That is not the situation you want to be against anyone. I really dont think you can count A or K as outs in an all in situation.

I think calling that all in was out of line but I do understand you because that kind of players really make me mad sometimes. We have to work a little bit with patience against the maniacs.

Turns out Mr Maniac cold-called my raise with [5c] [4d]. That didn't make me love him any more. Ha, ha. I left the table pretty soon after.

Yeah, in retrospect, I shouldn't have gone after him. I was steaming a bit.
