Don't slowplay flopped trips

Postby briachek » Thu Jun 30, 2005 6:18 pm

or you get burned by people like me. I had a feeling that preflop raiser had an Ace and decided to check the flop to trap. Well trap he did. I also didn't think he was good enough to fold, which I was right again. However, did I maximize on this hand as if the first guy had an ace too, I might have been better to just call, hope for a raise by the preflop raiser and get the other guy trapped for more money. Comments?

hmm... not that I spend my time worrying about 6 outers on the river, but I am much happier only dodging three. i would be surprised if the guy laid down an A, but maybe he did. I think you could have got him all in at the turn and it would have been a better play, it will really look like you are afraid of the flush draw that way.

Do you really think they would both slow play the trip Aces? I don't think BB had an ace. Maybe a six, but what the hey is he doing calling the preflop raise with X6? I think he was just taking a shot at the pot hoping no one else had anything - representing the Ace.

Your play is fine with me - especially when you read him as not being able to let those aces go. I can just see him posting on another board, whining about getting sucked out with trip aces.
