More Misplayed Hands ( I've got plenty)

Postby JJSCOTT2 » Thu Jun 30, 2005 5:51 pm

Here's some of my terrible hands of the day, let me know what you think.
(gotta do it all from memory and not HH's because my laptop crapped out)

Hand 1:

This is actually the last of the hands of the day but I'm putting it first because I hate it most. This happened exaclty one hand before the BB got back to me and i was leaving, gotta love that.

Playing 4 handed because half the table just sat out simultaneously, hence why I'm leaving.

Button I'm dealt [Ks] [Ts]

UTG limps, I limp, SB folds, BB raises $1 to $2. Both me and UTG call.

Flop [6s] [4s] [2s]

Pot is around $3, BB checks, UTG checks, I bet $3. BB calls $3, UTG raises to $6, I call (first mistake) BB calls.

Turn [6s] [4s] [2s] [6h].....check/check, I bet $10, UTG min-raises to $20, BB cc's $20, I call(second mistake)

River [6s] [4s] [2s] [6h] [9d] BB moves all in for $1.25, UTG raises to $40, I call(ultra-mistake)

Let me have it on that one.

Hand 2:

I call this one "When am I supposed to know someone flopped a set against me?"

Get dealt KK in MP, raise to $5, only the BB calls.

flop: 4 3 2 Check, I bet $10, he calls.

Turn: 4 3 2 A Check (I'm not putting him on an ace at this point) I bet $30 setting him all in, he calls.

River: 4 3 2 A 5

He's got 44, chop it up, but that's not the point, I'm drawing to 4 outs for a split and 2 outs for a win. Should I be able to put this guy on a set? Am I really supposed to slow down on the turn with KK just because someone called my bet on the flop? Discuss.

Hand 3:

In the BB I'm dealt [Qh] [2h]

Several limpers, I check.

Flop: [6h] [2d] [8h]

I lead for $2, UTG+2 raises to $6, all fold, I call.

Turn: [6h] [2d] [8h] [Qd]

I considered leading here, but I had a bad feeling about the flop raise and I figured if he moved all-in I wouldn't be able to call so I would be better off check/calling looking for a heart or a Q. He bets $10, I call.

River: [6h] [2d] [8h] [Qd] [4s]

Ok I missed, I check, he bets $30, I'm really hating the hand but I call anyway, he shows me 66.

Hand 4:

This one is really low content, It's just a reflection of my day.

Dealt 88 on the BB.

1 limper, I check.

Flop 9 8 4 rainbow.

I check, he leads $20 into a $2 pot, yeah, that's a $20.

I gleefully push all-in, he calls with his 99.

I could have bet the flop instead of checking, but that doesn't really change the outcome of this hand at all.

Hand 1: Blast that flop. I like the 1/2 pot bet (pot should actually be $6). He min-raises. I hate min-raises. Make him pay for it--NOW. On the turn, the pot is $24. The board pairs--if you haven't pushed by now, you need to at least raise to see where you are. Stack sizes would be really helpful at this point. On the river, the pot is at $84. The BB moves all-in, then UTG raises all-in? He probably has 99 and you let him draw to the hand that beats you. Once it gets to you, it's at $125.25, and you need to call $40. Bad play all around.

Hand 2: The smooth call of the pot sized bet after a raise should be an immediate key. If the player is any good at all, he realizes that he's calling $10 to win $20. He's got you beat then. You lucked out on the turn and river.

Hand 3: A BB special. But what the heck were you doing leading out or calling bottom pair with marginal kicker, even with a 3rd-nut flush draw? He raises that, you have to let it go. Maybe the flush card comes and you win a decent pot, because when you lead, he bails. Then the turn card gives you two pair and you almost have a pathological obligation to not lay it down. Ugly. I didn't notice the flush draw at first, but even that makes me queasy. Almost as queasy as that crying call on the river. You're beat, you know it. If you had happened to hit a heart, you would have won a nice pot (hopefully), but it would've been the fishiest, weak-tightiest, calling station, muppet play ever. If you feared the set, you're drawing to 8 outs (excluding the [6h]).
Assuming the call on the flop, when he bets the turn, you're 4.75-to-1 to make your hand, I figure you're calling 10 to win 27 (2.7 or so-to-1, because I don't know how many limpers there were). Bad call on the turn.

Hand 4: That just sucks--bad luck. It looks like an overbet with an overpair or a draw. I'd lose my stack on that one for sure. 2nd set is damn hard to lay down. And you're right, you lose your stack no matter what there.

Keep plugging away. It gets better.
