Pushing preflop with 33

Postby Stoneburg » Wed Jun 29, 2005 1:49 pm

The guy who pushes is a muppet and just lost most of his stack. However, I caught "Fortius" limping behind a few other limpers with AKo earlier, so I am a bit worried about him.

Jslow : Calls for 0.20
Fortius : Calls for 0.20
makk : Calls for 0.20
HerrKvist : Folds
Wil008 : Calls for 0.20
Stoneburg : Calls for 0.20 [3h] [3c]
KARIMINAL : Went all-in 0.62
Windblow : Folds
strictlyfun : Folds
Roper1966 : Calls for 0.42
Jslow : Calls for 0.42
Fortius : Calls for 0.42
makk : Calls for 0.42
Wil008 : Calls for 0.42
Stoneburg : Went all-in 21.73

Here's the scenarios as I see them:

1. Everyone folds. This is the best, then I'll have a race (hopefully) with a ton of dead money. Very much +EV. Also the added advertisement value (OMG! He went all-in with 33! Maybe he's not a rock after all...)

2. Some bastard can't let go of his AT or whatever and calls me, this is also a decent +EV and Advertisement value.

3. Someone can't let go of their low PP... which is most likely higher than mine. This is definetely -EV. Still good advertising though.

There's $3.50 in the pot and if everyone folds I'm actually +EV against AA here :D

I like your thought process... very well thougt out.

But when you get down to the nitty gritty, you are trying to bluff 5 players. I'm not a fan of running bluffs against 5 players. But if part of some greater design like building a table image or something I can see it. Also, I do like to raise aggressively with small pockets when I'm looking to get more action from a tight table on say my high pockets later.

I dont like it at all. Theres a good chance he has a higher pair than you.

Lets assume that he does. You now risked your whole stack (if someone else has a higher pair and calls) just to isolate a guy who has you dominated.

Why not just call along with everyone else? if you hit a set, its going to be a huge pot.

I don't think you looked at the sequence correctly Ice.

Everyone limps to the Muppet, who pushes his last .62 in the pot. Then everyone just calls that. This just screams weakness from everyone.

The Muppet will have a random hand. He's an all-in Muppet who buys in for a short stack then pushes great hands such as KQo and Axs preflop. He lost his whole stack on the hand before and will push here with 32o if that is what he picks up, he's looking to reload anyway.

The risk of there being a big PP among the callers is just minimal. They should have raised either before the action got to the muppet, or when the betting was re-opened. I'm hoping that medium and low PP's don't want to play for their whole stack, especially since *they will get to see my cards no matter what*, ie: no curiosity factor.

There is of course an outside chance someone calls with something like 99 or TT, but I expect any callers to have AT-AK or simmilar a lot more often.

No, I saw the sequence. I saw that YOU limped after 5 other limpers which tells me that YOU dont have a strong hand.

I think you will get called here. If you dont, you are still heads up with someone who at the very best you are a coin flip with and you very well could be dominated.

Even if he has Q4, its a coin flip. It doenst matter what muppet hand he has, the only hand you dominate is a hand with a 2 in it.

Then when someone likes his pot odds and calls you, you have big problems
