I think I know the answer to this but I would like to gather thoughts. This hand came up during a session today and I really tried to think this one through. The player I am against I had no real read as he had only been playing for two orbits. That said he seemed pretty solid, nothing scary.

Also do you think I played it right, especially the river? I think I shall leave the final bit of action open for debate and put my play later.

I rarely respond, as I just try to read and learn, BUT---he has a set (4s or 9s)...At these lower levels (where I play as well) he may be a !00% donkey, and made 2 pr on the river but either way, you are dead on this hand...JQ or any 2 diamonds as well, but I thought UB players were tighter than that...You don't beat many hands here....I fold....

I think thats a fairly easy fold. He not going to call your flop and turn bet and raise the river all in with KQ.

Its either KT, a flush, maybe a set but I really doubt it...or a total bluff on the flush scare card. If its a bluff, you'll get him later. Calling that trying to pick off a bluff will cost you alot of money in the long run.

I'd fold here, I've lost more money with AK making TPTK because of not folding in situations like this, even if you call and win this one time, I don't think it's a good move in the long run.

I agree with ice this is an easy fold. He has a flush. You didn't give him odds to chase but he did anyways.

(A straight flush is even possible here if he had a gutshot to go with his flush draw)

I like your flop and turn. I would personally check the river and not even pay off the $10 that you did.

Ice do you bet into a flush card if your opponent who is in position is calling the whole way? What do you usually do when the flush card comes in, do you check and then decide whethter to call a bet or what?

This was part of my debate.

My river bet was almost a blocking bet. I was hoping he would keep calling even with the flush if it was a non-nut flush. I figure to check on that board leaves him open to put in a massive river bet where a bluff is more of a possibility. At least him coming over me here narrows down my options.

If you call that all-in then you should have checked the river (another case of the "invitation bet"?). But you shouldn't call that with just top pair unless you have a read that this guy is fshy, even then its a pretty easy fold in most cases.

I agree with Kenny that blocking bets are overrated, but if youre going to make one like you did here, the whole purpose is to fold to a big raise.

I wouldnt bet that river at all. Once you check, the guy is going to bet with alot of different hands and you have to make a decision. If he pushes on a baord like this, its an easy decision.
