I still think Cloutier's book is the best for a newbie. It's not as boring as the others...and is very conservative..which i think is a wonderful concept for lower limits.

It is geared for tournments...but theres a lot of cash games advice that can be derived from it.

kenny-

may i ask which cloutier's book are you refering to? i just brought the theory of poker and is reading that, the mechanical and math of the game is very interesting indeed. =)

I'm guessing he means "Championship No Limit and Pot Limit Holdem", which should be arriving at my doorstep in a few weeks :)

If you're going to play lowstakes I wouldn't recommend playing exactly like Doyle says in Super System, that strategy is to be used against good players with deep stacks, quite the opposite of the lowstakes players in other words.
