I should have known better

Postby briachek » Tue Jun 21, 2005 7:36 pm

If the villain was the laggy player he was, I would have gotten away from it. My lack of respect for his game killed me. He min raised my limp raise preflop! How much of a bigger sign do I need. If the flop wasn't so low, I could have folded but now he would do that with many hands on that flop.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed)

UTG+1 ($67.30)
MP1 ($47.80)
MP2 ($9.65)
MP3 ($69.65)
CO ($35.45)
Button ($77.75)
SB ($25.55)
BB ($24.75)
Hero ($53.45)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Kd], [Ks].
Hero calls $0.50, 1 fold, MP1 raises to $2, 6 folds, Hero raises to $7, MP1 raises to $12, Hero calls $5.

Flop: ($24.75) [9c], [3d], [9d] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $20, Hero raises to $40, MP1 calls $15.80 (All-In).

Turn: ($100.55) [Ad] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($100.55) [Jh] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $100.55

Results in white below:
Hero has Kd Ks (two pair, kings and nines).
MP1 has Ac As (full house, aces full of nines).
Outcome: MP1 wins $96.35. Hero wins $4.20.

Anyone get away from this?

Here's my approach:

1. Close eyes
2. Press "call"
3. Hope for QQ

I know what you mean. At our home game last night, a friend limp re-reraised with AJ preflop after the button raised, the sb min raised preflop. It ended up 3 way all in for stacks of $40 (button), Sb ($80) and UTG+1 ($70). Both the button and sb had KK and the board was QQJT9 for a split pot. I asked what the UTG+1 was thinking and he was like "I figure one of them had KK so I had 3 outs so I had to call" These are the type of people you find at NL50.

Yeah, in all my experience playing NL, the most often limp re-raised hand I see is AJ, it's weird and makes no sense. In fact, this reply is actually completely useless, I'm just faking poker knowledge to make my 100th post.

I've seen WAYYYYYY too many people push A10 or pocket 8s here to fold... At the $50NL tables at party, all a 3rd raise means is "OOh... I got a face card..."
