What to do?

Postby Twelver » Tue Jun 21, 2005 8:27 am

I have only played about 35 hands with Villan, but what I have seen of him he is pretty rockish. VP$IP 5.88 PFR 2.94%.

$25 NL at Empire. He has $23 I have him covered. I am dealt [As] [Qs] 2 off the button. villian is sitting to my right. 3 folds, fish limps, villan raises to $1 I call, more folds, fish calls.

Pot - $3.35
Flop comes [5h] [3d] [Qc]

Fish checks, villan bets $3. I call????, Fish folds.

Pot - $9.35
Turn [9h]

villan bets $8. I call?????

Before I go on anyone care to guess what he has? Should I have raised the flop? Really the only hands that beat me are AA or KK right? Thoughts before I post the rest of the hand.

If you are going to play AQ to the rock's raise then I think you have to raise this flop. Aside from the flush draw this is about the best flop you can hope to hit. If you make it $9 to go on the flop and he comes over the top then you can get away from your hand. If he flat calls I'd be going into check/fold mode unless the turn or river improve your hand. I would imagine that if he flat calls you will buy yourself a cheap showdown as he is basically pot committed on the call.

I see your points...and they are valid.

To finish the hand the river was also a 9.

He pushed the rest of his stack ($9.50).

I called and he flipped over AA.

My play on the hand was definately not up to par, that is why I come here and get such great insight from you fine people. :D
