Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Golf is extremely talent dependent when it comes to how quick you drop in HCP. A few very good players I know who played daily for 2-3 years can drop to <5 in that time frame. A lot of others who played every summer for 10 years are still not there.

I started playing at 13 years of age and had 5 in hcp as 17 but I levelled out there and the next 10 years I never dropped below 4, lack in talents no doubt :) . I still trained 2-3 days per week all summers long.

I don't have time to play regularly anymore, I played around last year for a score of 90 which is pretty damn bad, if I trained for a week I could maybe score 80 on a good day now.

If you are good and train a lot I think you can drop to between 5-10 in 2-3 years.

the only way to really get any better at golf is to live it. eat, sleep, drink, think, fantisize about it. its like poker in that regard. if you're serious about it you need to spend every second you can spare on the putting and chipping grees. lessons can help, but you need to commit yourself to getting better if you're going to make any progress (again, like poker). this coming from a former golf pro...

I have absolutely no talent when it comes to golf, and I bottomed out at hcp 16 after 3 years or so. The season for golf is rather short in middle/northern Sweden tho (4.5 months a good year). So If you have any talent whatsoever, I'd say <10 is easily attainable with a lot of practice and some coaching.

Good luck
