Overpair on 4 card straight on turn

Postby briachek » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:08 pm

I wasn't sure what to do on turn. He could just be calling with the straight draw on the flop that because a pair of 5's. He could have had a pair and the draw which is now 2 pair. I decided to try to put out a smallish bet to see if he's looking to raise me and hopefully see the river cheap. What do you do on the turn? I might have the best hand but if I check, I'm likely to be bet into on the river. Do you just check and see what happens on the river?

He could have limped in with several hands here that beat you. I would think I am beat as when he calls my raise on the flop. There is just to many hands out there that he could have limped in with that would be beating you. I would have probably raised it up pre flop to try and get rid of some of the limpers.

That's tough, I think there's a lot more hands that he could be holding that beat you than ones that you beat. A PF limp, then 1/2 pot bet on the flop and call to your reraise, the only hands I can see are:

Hands you beat:
A6s, A5s, 77

Hands you don't beat:
34, 45, 56, 67, higher PP

But, I think the bet on the turn was a good one though, because, it could have won you the pot, and I think it got you off a lot cheaper than if you let him bet the river.

The hand sucks no matter what you do. Flop raise is good. I might check behind on the turn or I might bet, but if I did I think it would be closer to $10
