Yeah often times, the bigger games have the bigger fish in them, because those are the guys that really dont care that much about money. The small stakes players play bad because they are clueless and maybe not that intelligent- middle-big stakes players players may or may not be clueless, but ultimately, alotofem just dont care and love to gamble it up.

Good luck with your first B&M experience. I was exactly where you were about a year or so ago- probly worse off in fact because I was 10k in credit card debt. co, and was into some friends for a couple K. ==-- was essentially a starvin student who had never had any significant amount of cash to my name in my entire life. I sat down at a 20-40 table with my last 500, played a in the BB in a 9 handed raised pot and scooped an 800dollar pot. A year later i was outta debt and playin 100-200. (okay i only played 100 200 a few times and got my ass handed to me everytime I did basically, but hey it sounded good, alright?)

So if you do go take a shot, i wish you all the luck! B&M games generally play alot looser than online games, and since your only 1 tabling, you can generally play higher than you would usually...not that that justifies putting your entire net worth on the table, but im just sayin...

I agree with MVP. Most the play is terrible except for a couple players so you will know who to be wary of. People raise to $17-22 preflop so having only $100 is not a good idea. If you go to the taj, you can buy in for $300 but $200 isn't bad but you have to be willing to drop $400 to play.

The play is terrible and people will chase despite the odds. One thing I've noticed is that people will give you odds on later streets. For example, they may overbet the pot on the flop but then they bet the same amount on the turn and river because they don't think. That normally gives you great odds on the turn to chase if you choose and you can get to cheap showdowns if you choose. By cheap showdowns, I mean $20-$30 instead of $80-100 that they should be betting.

finally took that trip. had to wait for the last of my friends to turn 21. we decided to go to the taj because it supposedly had the shortest waitlist. when me and my friend went to sign up for the 1-2 nl game, they were just opening a table so we got seated fairly quickly. i bought in for $200. i did not feel comfortable playing in this game at all. this is my first b&m experience and betting/calling $40 when im used to the 25NL online game is very intimidating. i feel i played pretty weak tight and got pushed around a lot. there was one pretty good player at my table. he was calling everyone's cards, and was right most of the time. he would say your queens are good on a board of K92r, and the other guy would show pocket jacks. two times he asked me, "you had AK right?," after i my continuation bet got raised. he was right, but of course i didn't tell him that. another hand i got AsKs in ep, raised it to 10. got one caller in the sb. flop came 99Jr, check check. turn was a blank, check, check. river is another J and he bets out 8. i think and call hoping for a chop. he turns over pocket 9's. yea i probably should have bet the flop, or at least the turn, but i was feeling really weak/tight and the money was scaring me. i won one big pot that night where i flopped a full house with J9. by the river there were 4 hearts on the board. i get set all in, call and get shown Ad4h. he thought he had the Ah. lucky me . i ended the night down around $50. didn't lose any really huge pots but got pushed out of a lot of small ones. overall, i had a good time. but i think i'm gonna wait til i feel more comfortable with betting so much money before i head back there.
