I think the "excessive celebration" rule is much more silly and given a few minutes I can probably list 5+ rules in sports that make the OT rule look like pure genius.

Not ranked individually

1. Excessive celebration (football). Like omg, he put the ball under his jersey and patted it like a baby..that has to be 15 yds... compared to a illegal block or something that actually can end a player's career.
2. Not being allowed to pull your jersey over your head when celebrating a goal (soccer)
3. Passive play (handball). If you want to have a rule against passive play you should obviously have a shot clock (c.f. basketball) instead of a judgement call by the ref.
4. Not allowing more than one corner in a row (bandy, new rule this season). This rule is sooo retarded it's not even funny. The reason for it is to "speed up game play" which brings me to ..
5. Introducing one time-out / half (bandy). Yeah this speeds up the game..idiots
6. The OT rule in pro football. Yeah lets just flip a coin for the win.

feel free to add to this list.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
