NL25 6max checking behind on turn with TP

Postby bigwheell » Sat Sep 15, 2007 7:12 pm

I have really been trying not to go broke with TP against sets and I think I may be sacrificing too much value by checking behind too often on the turn...My question does no specifically mean just this hand, but in situatiosn like this in general

Is my check behind on the turn here a reasonable play here to avoid the dreaded checkraise, or do I lose too much value over the long run? I pretty much go with my gut based on their play and maybe do it 30%- 40% of the time

It seems that I have been overplaying my TP hands and losing to sets too often...This could just be short term results orientated, and I want to get a few second opinions...

Thanks,

You need to bet this turn for value/protection.
The better player should win the race. Always.

You cannot check that turn. that weak $1 bet looks like a block bet. You need to get some value / protection on the turn. You played this backwards. You should have bet the turn and then checked the river, If you get C/R on that river you can't call. Thats a GREAT spot for a bluff C/R.

I can't believe there are this many people saying a "check" is ok on this particular hand. The villan made what looks as an obvious blocking bet on the ultra drawy flop then checks the turn to us and we check it back??? I am thinking this a 100% must bet. If it ws K82r or something one can make for just calling lead bet even then checking the turn but on this board checking that turn is gonna is let someone beat us for free the most part.

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
