Okay, here's a typical TW type of play that'll get me thoroughly flamed by you wonderful people. Possibly for good reason. But I will say that I felt I had a pretty good read on the player/situation, so see what you think.

UTG calls, 3 folds, MP3 calls, 3 folds, TW checks.

TW checks, UTG checks, MP3 checks.

Turn: (1.66 BB) (3 players)
TW bets, UTG folds, MP3 raises, TW calls.

River: (5.66 BB) (2 players)
TW bets, MP3 folds.

Final Pot: 6.66 BB

TW has 6h Qh (one pair, kings).
Outcome: TW wins 6.66 BB.

Okay, so on the flop, I obviously have no interest, but it gets checked around. On the turn, my stab might've been a bit illadvised, but I thought it had a good chance of taking the small pot down. Then, I get raised, and things get interesting. Having played with this player a bit before, and for a while today, I knew he was fairly aggressive, though not a maniac. I really couldn't see him having bare trip kings, as I'm certain he would've bet the flop with top pair. Kings full didn't seem likely, and while a set is possible...well, sets don't happen too often, right? So, I thought there was a good chance that he was either (a) semi-bluffing a flush draw that he just picked up, or (b) playing back at what looked like (and was) a steal on my part. So, I called with the intention of betting out on any non-spade river, and obviously folding if raised and blushing if called.

Probably not very +EV in general, but I did feel pretty certain that he did not have a made hand on the turn, so I think in this case it wasn't really all that bad of a move. Nevertheless, I've got my flame-resistant gear on, so hold nothing back, guys!

To be honest, as long as you have a really solid read on him, I don't think this play is that bad but that's not to say that I would do it. I would have check folded any street. If you feel he is betting a draw (as I agree that him having the king isn't likely) and you can get him to fold the river if he misses, I like the call of his bet. He will miss that flush more often than not and as long as he doesn't pair up or decided to check you up with Ace high, I can understand this move. I just don't do them myself.

GOD!! I think the real problem you have is the -EV move you made earlier, which is the act of waking up! What muppetry!!

No seriously, it was a fine play, your gut was right. Whenever i try and pull crap like this though, i almost always three bet the turn.

The reason for this is that if he has a crappy pair that he's raising you with, he'll be much more inclined to lay his hand to a three bet, knowing that itll cost him 2 more big bets to see the river rather than mucking to the river bet when itll only cost him one.
