I became very passive, but thought it to be hard to move him of a potential A on the turn, and half the deck were outs. Raise flop? Smaller bet on river?

I'd puish the river since it was a backdoor flush

this is good. looks like missed diamonds. he almost has to have at least an A after that turn bet and he's expecting you to "bluff" the river.
