Walls, razor wire, moats with gators etc. are all worthless. "Let's just build a big wall!" is typical unworkable Bush logic.

The Repubs (or the Democrats for that matter) don't want to go too harsh on illegal immigration because they think it will piss off the legal Latino population, and that is a HUGE voting block. The GOP has been desperately trying to pretend they are the party for Latinos, GL with that one.

Bottom line- turning the other cheek to some illegal immigration is a good thing economically; opening the floodgates isn't. Who here wants to pay $4 for a head of lettuce?

All these towns trying to pass racist anti-immigration laws don't get it anyway...it's an economic issue, not a racial one. They don't lose a dime by letting illegals rent an apartment, they just don't like too many brown people in their towns.

The ONLY thing that will stem the flood of illegal immigrants is to crack down, and I mean really crack down, on employers who hire them.
