I guess I should also say that "not getting offended" and "not doing anything about it" are 2 different things.
The problem with just ignoring it completely is that when someone yells a slur at you they are trying to provoke you. It doesnt bother me and I can easily ignore it, but if you do, then alot of times they still want to provoke you except next time they have to escalate the provocation and they may throw a bottle at you (or the next cop they come into contact with). Ignore that and the next time they encounter a cop and they are pissed at whatever raw deal life has thrown them, they may actually attack the cop or shoot at him or whatever.
Most thugs who gets their asses kicked by the cops are much more pleasant the next time they deal with the police.
So while very little offends me, sometimes I still have to take some kind of action. The action itself can vary widely depending on the situation and to the outsider it probably just looked like I didnt like being called a name. So think about that when you see a cop "taking action" and it happens to get video taped.
Obviously some cops get carried away though........
