AA hand against a maniac (100NL 6 max)

Postby LuparFiend » Wed May 02, 2007 10:57 am

I've only been at the table for one orbit, so not too much of a read, but the dude was running at 54/36/2.0 and had a massive stack

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (6 handed) from (Format: Bet The Pot)

UTG ($101.75)
MP ($249.85)
Hero ($98.50)
Button ($39.10)
SB ($388.60)
BB ($219.35)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Ad], [Ac].
2 folds, Hero raises to $3.5, 1 fold, SB calls $3, 1 fold.

Flop: ($8) [8h], [3c], [Qs] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $6, SB raises to $12, Hero calls $6.

Turn: ($32) [Jh] (2 players)
SB checks,

Hero ??

Should I check behind, or should I bet. I was really confused because there were only inside st draws after the flop, and he min-raised me! And he's a maniac. His Fold to continuation bet stat was right near 0 according to PA HUD.

Why did I only call the min-raise? I don't know. Like I said, there were no draws after the flop. Arggg! Should I have raised his check min-raise?

Check to induce the river...he'll likely fire with anything on the river and you should snap call.

I find most flop mini raises are an amateur's way of fighting back against continuation bets. If you call, then he knows you have either a pp or a strong draw left.

I don't your line on this hand at all, but as played, bet the turn and watch him fold.

If he calls, he'll probably lead out on the river. Call any reasonable bet.

If he calls and checks, then value bet any brick.

If he raises turn bet 3x, I prolly fold. If he pushes, I puke and study my PAHUD stats a bit closer for a better read. If his aggro >5 then I call.

I did bet the turn ($25), and he did push. I figured he had just a pair of Queens or something crappy like that. I have a really hard time laying down over pairs against maniacs/donks (A leak?) so I called and he showed Q8o

horray me.

Please start folding to these min check raises in raised pots. If you dont want to fold, then at least start keeping track of the end results of all hands where you dont fold. After you do this, you'll start folding.

In this case I said bet the turn because almost never does someone min check raise the flop and then check the turn with a monster, but then I fold to alot of min check raises so I dont get a chance to see the turn check.
