Overpair (25 NL 6max)

Postby ChaseThis » Thu May 03, 2007 3:56 am

New to table, no reads. New to 6-max. Overpairs killed me in April in FR. Against a shorty, I'm more likely to shove. Is this an easy fold or am I giving someone too much credit w/o seeing stats? I think I'm only ahead of AJ and QQ...AK/Qcc could be possible too. I actually clicked for time and timed out quickly due to previous hand.

OOP sucks :( , so is even calling the flop raise worth it, knowing I need the case K on the turn to feel good?

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Preflop is important here. This is a steal situation: he tried to steal the blind and you repopped. You need to be doing this, at least on occasion, with a wide variety of hands. The question is whether your opponent thinks you're decent enough to be reraising with less than a big pair or AK. I'm guessing that at $25 NL your opponent (if he's a thinking person) thinks you have AA-TT, AK/AQ most of the time here. The problem is that your weak continuation bet invites him to think you have AK/AQ pretty often.

So ... bet the fricking pot size on the flop. If he raises a bet like that, you can put him on a real hand much more often. If you're planning on folding to a raise, bet the pot to make it hard for him to put in the raise! On the other hand, if you think he's bluffy and you want him to raise, that's the time to bet weak on the flop hoping for a raise.
