I didn't play this hand well (2/5 live)

Postby kennyg » Mon Apr 30, 2007 4:58 am

I limp in the CO after an EP loose limper and tight/passive makes it $20 to go. We both call. i have [Ah][8h]

FLOP $65
[Ad][9h][Ts]

EP checks, I check... button bets $35. EP calls... they both look pretty weak. I called instead of raised which I think is a mistake. Anyway...

TURN $160
[Ad][9h][Ts] [Kh]

EP checks. I bet $75 trying to rep QJ. Button's eyes have gotten a little wider. He calls. EP calls.

RIVER$ $385
[Ad][9h][Ts] [Kh] [8c]

Well now I have two pair. EP checks. I bet $150 with $200 left planning to fold to a raise.

Well, purely in terms of betting, button should have AK. With the eyes getting wider, KK seems logical. I guess EP might have some kind of AX.

A lot of players (some of them definitely quite good) in the game up here play this hand the way you did with call flop, then passive bets on subsequent streets.

What works better for me is either $135 or fold on the flop with presumably your 98s.

Anyhow, button isn't going away with AK on the flop or with KK once he hits on the turn.

I agree with a strong flop CR if you think they are weak; i dont like the CC.

your turn bet is OK i guess; its just hard to get players to fold alot of the time. River looks fine.

I can't decide if button being in the hand makes me ck/call.

I love your line if its just you and EP.

a river check-call vs a blockish bet that Kenny made are about equal, IMO.

YOu cant rep QJ like that. Very few people in a live game leads out with QJ on the turn when they hit the straight. If you want to rep QJ, you shouldve check raised all in.
