I think my main issue with the conspiracy theories is that a simply enormous number of people and organisations would have to be in on it, many of them staffed by people who'd consider themselves strongly patriotic/defensive of the values of their country.

For it all to have gone down as a cover up, you'd need some way of cracking the inside of the Al-Quaeada ring involved in actually flying the planes (pretty possible), but you'd also need to have the support of the Air Force (to stand down under orders for no given reason and then not release any info about it afterwards), a bunch of high ranking government officials, all with families, secretaries, aides etc etc etc, the ability to control elements of the airport security to make sure the hijackers got on board armed (again, without ANY of the security people talking about it afterwards), all the security folks in the building plus whatever special forces guys/whoever you think laid the "bombs" that levelled the towers, PLUS all their superiors, right up the chain of command, AGAIN without any of this leaking out...

For something like that I think probably several hundred (even over a thosand?) people would have to be manipulated, ordered or in some other way influenced by whatever sinister power you think was responsible for the conspiracy, and without any of them bringing forward any concrete evidence of the conspiracy, talking about it, or otherwise unwittingly drawing attention to it by saying "I was told by superior X to do action Y" to someone. I just don't accept that it's very easy to do that outwith the intelligence community (and even within the professional intelligence, eg spying, community, I don't think huge secrets are that widespread and touch so many people without them getting out eventually, for the most part).

I may have to concede on this one ... it would be very difficult to cover up something of that magnitude. I still have unanswered questions, and have no trust in the Bush administrations answers. Perhaps I am taking it too far though.

Track. Not plural. A snake leaves a track. No wait sorry ... that's Cheney. Bush leaves tracks when he's not swinging from vines.
