I think I would have checked the turn, to see what he was doing. If he bet, I would've folded, even though it might be sort of weak-tight.

There are too many hands out there that beats you, sets, straights and flushes. If he has anything except TP you are at best drawing to the higher set. With two outs to make something that maybe isn't the best hand, I would've folded to a bet, if I didn't know him to be a bluffer.

Definitely check the turn. You have position and you can take a free card. He bet into you on flop and called a potsize raise: He had a strong hand or a big draw on flop

The turn card completed the flush draw and a straight draw. When you bet you'll only get called by a better hand. And the only hands you are ahead of are 77-TT and it doesnt hurt you to give those hands a free card.

On river fold or call a small bet.

I'm actually still in shock that you pushed the turn. There is no way you can think you are ahead and you are getting to chase your possible redraw for free.

Thanks guys, I should have pointed out that the player I was playing against was very loose, I really thought he had a 99, or 1010 and that I had him drawing to 3 outs.

At the time I thought I had the best hand and the best draw, afterwards I started thinking I should have been able to get away from it. Turns out everyone seems to agree with that. Thanks for all the responses.

With 77 on the turn he has 8 outs assuming he has the
With 88 he has 5 outs assuming he has the
With 99-JJ he has 1-2 outs depending on if he has a heart or not.

But yeah... I have to agree with the others that it's a bit odd to push on the turn after he calls your big raise on the flop. I don't understand why he doesn't just push against your re-raise, but you should definetely check behind for a free draw at the set or flush once he checks the turn.
