Here's some rules of thumb for car-shopping:
1. avoid any car that a chick describes as "cute"
2. don't buy American. just...don't.
3. German > Japanese > American > Yugoslavian
4. to the above point, Japanese luxury cars are just glorified versions of a regular old Japanese car. German luxury cars are luxury cars.
5. remember that California is not handing out free diamond lane stickers anymore for hybrids, which would have been the only reason I'd ever buy one
